ICZN ZooBank
 

ZooBank - a project of the International Commission for Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN)
A proposal to establish ZooBank, an open-access, mandatory registration system for descriptions of all new taxa and nomenclatural acts in animal taxonomy, was published in Nature (Polaszek et al., 2005).

This paper, by 27 currently active zoologists from a variety of backgrounds, argues for the establishment of a registration system for new zoological taxa and nomenclatural acts. The paper describes the technical details and possible obstacles to implementing such a system.
